The Coastal Animal Services Authority, which manages animal-control and shelter services for San Clemente and Dana Point, plans to move forward with a dog-license canvassing program.
CASA is exploring vehicle options for canvassers who would check with residents on whether dogs are licensed and whether a license has been paid for or renewed. The program will be presented to city leaders soon, CASA manager Rick Gilliland said.
Also, the CASA board said a proposed amendment to the San Clemente pet ordinance will be revised to include specific animals affected by proposed limits. The revisions will be submitted to the City Council at a later date.
The San Clemente/Dana Point Animal Shelter is obtaining estimates for an expansion of its cat room. The size of the expanded room has not yet been determined.
